The focus of the SCIPA (Spinal Cord Injury + Physical Activity) program is promoting neurological recovery, maintaining health and wellness and optimising independence.
Studio Alto’s brief was to produce an identity for the program that communicated a sense of movement, colour and vibrancy whilst avoiding medicine and spinal clichés for an audience consisting of patients, academics and government.
The solution conveys the feeling of movement and freedom through a layering of 3 spinal cord cross-sections (the internal butterfly shaped central region made up of nerve cell bodies). The placement of the shapes near the dot of the eye creates the impression of the movement of a butterfly or a person ‘spreading their wings’.
